The words you need to know for local eating in Columbus

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA): a program that connects farmers directly to consumers that provides a set amount of produce each week or month for those that have a "share"

Fair trade: a standard that means sustainable agriculture practices are used and the farmers are bettering their conditions

Farmer's markets: community gatherings for local farmers to sell their produce, milk, etc. 

Food miles: the distance food travels, from farm to plate, and an important factor in sustainability

Food system: the growing, processing, and transportation of food

Local: the region close to you, usually within a day's drive. However there is no concrete definition for eating "locally"

Locavore: someone who eats food grown locally

Sustainability: habits that save energy and resources and preserve the environment
